North Carolina Capitol restoration costs exceed funds
Restoration work on the 132 year old North Carolina Capitol may reach 945000, nearly double the 525000 appropriated by the 1971 General Assembly. The Advisory Budget Commission will meet Friday to consider funding options including supplemental budget money, a 1973 appropriation, or reducing scope. Plans include roof replacement, exterior cleaning and repainting, plaster repair, interior repaint, floor repairs, and upgraded lighting and climate control.
