Democratic leaders urge creation of a federal authority to authorize loans and grants to cities for a billion dollar slum clearance and low rent housing program. They expect federal funds to leverage 500 million dollars in non federal support and house about 375000 families.
G Cobb, 60, of Greenwood was killed and Conductor Ray Clink injured when a Piedmont freight coal car rolled from a sidetrack onto the main line at 5 am. The coal car, shifted en route to Spartanburg, rolled back onto the track and collided with the locomotive near Bleachery and Print Works.
In York on February 24 the set of talks between coal operators and the Mine Workers union concluded with a joint committee representing both sides. No early settlement was announced and JL Lewis, president of the miners union, said workers would continue after the date with the contract in force.
Bay India February 24. Mrs Charles A Lind and her husband arrived at 1 p m after a 48 hour journey through India. Officials had feared a missing air voyage and the couple’s absence had caused widespread concern before their landing.

Cottillo allowed a discontinuance at Peggy's on the stand. Bernard Sandler, her attorney, moved to drop the action after questioning marriage details from 1925 to Taylor Vance Guinn. The judge stated there was no desire to prolong the trial or drag innocent people into it.
