Sylva's Daisy McGuire, NC's oldest practicing dentist
Dr. Daisy Zachary McGuire, born 1880, turns 95 on February 24 and remains North Carolina’s oldest practicing dentist with 1908 to 63 years in Sylva's office shared with her husband Dr. Wayne McGuire. The couple, both long-tenured dentists, raised three daughters who also pursued dentistry, and their legacy includes early 20th century dental methods and a life of public service in Buncombe County's mountain town.
