Pay Raises For Justices Proposed in North Carolina

North Carolina Supreme Court justices would gain sizeable pay raises under a bill backed by Gov. Dan Moore. Chief justice would rise from 24000 to 28000 dollars and associate justices from 23000 to 27000, as recommended by the governor and the advisory budget commission. The measure advances alongside actions to formalize the governor’s law and order committee as a permanent state agency and to seek federal matching funds under the Highway Safety Act of 1966.
