Harold David Land, 95, of Liberty Road, was arrested in Front Royal Virginia and returned to High Point on a charge of kidnapping his three year old daughter. Land contested the mother’s stated name for the child, presenting a Florida birth certificate showing Stephane Dawn Land and Debora Dawn Meindl listed as the mother. Land was released on bond Friday.

Avot Linwicd Hall, 36, of 61 Guilford Street, treated and released after his truck went out of control on Lexington Avenue near Waverly Court at 1am. High Point police charged Hall with reckless driving. A separate crash at Eastchester Drive near High Point Mall injured Donald Bishop, 50, of Spartanburg, and Bruno Lopez, 0, of Rt. 6, Thomasville, at 5:55 pm Friday. Major Stewart Hartley said SBI and local detectives investigate the shooting death of Bobby Christian of 196 Drew St. At Brentwood Plaza a break in at the Big V Super Market led to a 9mm pistol found. Christian was shot during confrontation with officers as he advanced toward them. The incident remains under DA review.
