Cuban heir Facundo Bacardi freed after 11 hour kidnapping

Eight year old Facundo Bacardi was rescued unharmed after an 11 hour kidnapping. Abductor Manuel Echevarria and chauffeur Guillermo Rodriguez died in the pursuit. Facundo thanked authorities and prayed at the Church of the Virgin del Cobre as his family celebrated his safe return.

Stevens to testify voluntarily before McCarthy panel

Secretary of the Army Stevens announced he will testify Tuesday as a voluntary witness to the McCarthy Investigating committee after telling two officers to refrain from appearing. One Dead Five Hurt In Identical Crashes On U S 29

Two similar crashes on U S 29 near Marshville and near Thomasville left one man dead and several injured. Ernest T Godwin of Marshville died in the first collision as his car veered into a southbound lane. Presbyterian Minister Unfrocked for Heresy in Detroit Case

The Rev. Claude Williams, a 59-year-old Presbyterian minister, was unfrocked by a five-minister, four layman commission on charges of heresy and teaching communism. The panel dismissed the communism charge, issued a censure on that count, and Williams plans to appeal to the Detroit presbytery meeting on March 2. He previously served as wartime industrial chaplain for the Detroit area and now resides in Helena Alabama.
