Cheaper credit for North Carolina farmers urged
An agriculture policy meeting in Raleigh urged cheaper and more adequate farm credit and greater diversification to secure cash basis farming. A survey by Dr. G. W. Forster showed tenants paid up to 71 percent interest on supplies from time merchants, while owners paid about 6 percent on bank loans. The group favored county or district credit corporations backed by Federal Intermediate Credit Banks to extend longer term loans at 6 to 8 percent, with capitalization of at least 10 000 dollars to start.
