First 1918 Western Front attack dented German defense

French forces broke the German first line north of Bures and east of Moncel in Lorraine, capturing over 400 prisoners. Rail workers to gain extended hours under new agreement

Washington reports a settlement between Director General Mc Adoo and O A Wharton head of the AFLs employes department.
