Blindness Stops? Mechanic Runs Asheboro Garage

Clinton Edwards, 30, blinded by a Viet Cong mine eight years ago and deaf in his left ear, operates a small Asheboro garage near his home. A former medic in South Vietnam, he relined brakes, repaired cylinder heads, pulled transmissions, and fixed rear ends by touch and memory. Born near Plant City, Florida, he moved to Randolph County in 1963, was drafted in 1965, and after seven months in Vietnam he was wounded. Three years ago he embraced faith and says church helped him accept his blindness. Last October he built a garage.
