Lenoir Jailbreak Foiled by Sheriff Report
Cald well sheriff disclosed eight men were caught trying to saw and hack their way from the Lenoir county jail. Mil ard Greer, 45, charged with murder in the Jan 18 slaying of Police Chief William Deane Green, was among them. Tools found included six new files five hacksaw blades and a screwdriver. inmates hid them in the security cell and water pipe room. The group faced charges including murder narcotics rape nonsupport and breaking and entering larceny. Trial set to begin next Monday.
