A proposed city hospital funded with Duke Endowment support would require about $400000 for construction and equipment. No site or drawings exist yet as PWA state action is awaited. Ten years ago a bond proposal to fund city participation was defeated amid opposition led by Dr. J T Burrus. The Endowment later bought Burrus’ High Point hospital for $100000 and renamed it Burrus Memorial.
