Manhattan Loft Fire Kills Six Firemen

A six story loft building at 137 Wooster Street in Manhattan burned fiercely in a five alarm blaze. Six firemen died and ten were injured as two men remained missing early today amid the collapsed third and fifth floor ruins. Fire officials blamed a smoker for the start and said a hundred men would scour the debris to locate the missing workers from the New York Board of Fire Underwriters.
