McNary said an overpowering majority favored the McCarran wage amendment while divisions surfaced on Adams and Metcalf proposals. LaFollette aimed to boost work funds. current plan runs to June 30, 1937 with a June 30, 1936 limit.
Washington February 15 The administration's work relief program gains a key Senate test as a motion seeks to speed approval of 880 million dollars for direct relief while the 4 billion for work relief remains in doubt. Senator McCarran promises to split the bill into two parts and rush back the direct relief section. Republicans propose shortening the relief fund availability to June 30, 1926 from June 30, 1937.
