Cardinal Stepinac Buried in Zagreb Cathedral After Forgiving Enemies
Alojzije Cardinal Stepinac was buried in Zagreb Cathedral amid a display of reconciliation with the Vatican after the Yugoslav government reversed a Krasic burial order. The service followed a fatal accident involving Cardinal Koenig's delegation and included a sermon in which Stepinac forgave those who erred against him. The 61 year old cardinal had been imprisoned for alleged Nazi collaboration and his death marks a close in the church state feud.
