Nurse pioneer Mrs McAskill recalls early High Point nursing

Mrs. John D. McAskill former superintendent of nursing at Memorial Hospital visits High Point for the red nursing school building opening. A Moore County native trained locally in 1911 14 she later did graduate work in New York and Richmond and returned to Memorial Hospital as a nurse educator and surgical nurse supervisor. She married in 1942 and now lives in High Point or Carthage.

Sparks Family To Occupy Donated Home This Week

The Benjamin R. Sparks family will move into their donated Highland Ave home by midweek after fire destruction last November. Volunteers and Lions Club aided progress. water pump installation remains as the final task. Plot to Kill Molotov Reported in Berlin Dinner

The New York Daily News quotes Berlin security sources on a plot to assassinate Soviet Foreign Minister V. M. Molotov during a Molotov tribute dinner in West Berlin. Western security chiefs were alerted after threatening letters and a tapped hotel call confirmed the danger. Reds Send Swede To Asylum

Greensboro Woman Charged in Stepdaughter Eye Injury
