Second Trial Man Is Found Guilty In Death
George Jennings, 38, of Gordon Street, found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the July 1968 shooting death of Wilkes Edward Gibson on Bundy Road. Judge Walter E. Johnston postponed sentencing next week after a prior 1968 conviction and new trial granted on appeal. Testimony says Gibson struck Jennings in the head during the meeting on the day of the shooting.

Route 3 Man Killed In Wreck Near Randleman
A lone driver, Lynn Franklin Hedgecock age 25, died in a one car crash on Route 3 near Level Cross Randolph County at about 11 p.m. Friday. The late model car rolled several times after losing control, throwing Hedgecock from the vehicle. He was a Sumner High School graduate, former U S Air Force veteran, and employed by Automatic Sprinkler Corporation. He is survived by parents, a sister and eight brothers. The body is at Cumby Mortuary pending funeral plans. In other items, Jennings shot at Gibson after a dispute on Bundy Road, with one shot through the car window. and Robbie Styles and Robert McGee convicted of breaking into a motor vehicle and theft, receiving suspended sentences and fines.

Duke Power Co has permission from the State Utilities Commission to raise rates by 10 to 8 per cent for all customer classes except wholesale users, which are under Federal Power Commission control.
