Washington AP reports two groups spend over 200000 dollars yearly advising conscientious objectors. They contend draft boards harden on CO deferment cases while Selective Service notes no Vietnam era rise in CO exemptions. Leaders cite hostile national policy and war sociology affecting I-O and I-A-O classifications for draft abstainers.
U N Secretary General U Thant met with Soviet Premier Kosygin and party chief Brezhnev in Moscow for a second day to press Vietnam peace efforts. He planned talks with British leaders and was to visit London before returning to New York as Washington and London back the San Antonio peace formula.
Benny Brown 23 and Faye Dawson 16, a Georgia couple who vowed they would never be taken alive, were jailed in Alabama on two murder charges. They were captured Saturday at a roadblock near Macon after a multi state pursuit that left two dead and four wounded, including Marine Sgt. Harry Neal Boyd. Arraignment has not been set and they are held without bond.
