The funeral is set for Friday at First Baptist Church with viewing beginning tomorrow morning.
Detroit February 11 formal signing at 11 46 a m E S T to end the costliest automaker strike in American history as General Motors and the United Auto Workers union conclude talks.
Bishop Edwin Dubose Mouton aged 68 lay in state at First Methodist church Charlotte after dying suddenly of a heart attack. Funeral at 3:30 pm, burial to follow in Dallas. Mouton, senior bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, helped push the movement toward unification of Methodism.
A military plane crashed on Muellerstrasse in northern city today killing five people and setting cars and pedestrians on fire. Governor Hoey reprieved George Exum William Jackson and Raymond Early delaying their scheduled hangings. Exum remains slated for April 2 after new death date set, Jackson until April 30, and Early until May 28 following case reviews in Wayne Forsyth and Yadkin counties.

Salisbury February 11 Arguments opened in the murder trial of Vernice Pritchett an ex convict charged with killing Jasper Wilkinson a Kannapolis taxi driver whose body was found near a highway Wilkinson an observed target of a robbery plan with a companion Pritchett testified he was at his parents home in Schoolfield Virginia the night of the slaying He denied holding a grudge against Wilkinson and the robbery accusation.
William Green of the AFL denounced the General Motors accord as a surrender by John L. Lewis. Green lamented the United Automobile Workers failed to win a closed shop beyond craft union areas. He urged full labor solidarity across the United States and Canada amid tensions in the committee for industrial organization.
The death of Bishop Edwin D Mouzon from a heart attack at his Charlotte home last night shocks High Point where he often preached at Wesley Memorial Methodist church. He previously presided over the Western North Carolina camp meeting here in October 1929 and spoke at the Spirit Conference in March, with further appearances in 1933.

In Gadsden on February 11 a trial of a 20-year-old married woman for criminally attacking a 17-year-old girl was postponed after her husband, Luther Cochran, was convicted of a similar charge. The wife Jean Cochran faced an indictment for forcibly ravishing the young woman. the jury sentenced Luther Cochran to 30 years. The victim testified that Mrs. Cochran restrained her and threatened to gag her.
In Goldsboro on February 11 officers of the North Carolina Methodist Woman's Missionary conference adopted a resolution opposing the state liquor bill approved by the House and urged a state wide referendum. Mrs A M Gates of Durham led the meeting on behalf of about 12 000 voting members.

Coroner R L Grant announced autopsy found no sign of foul play in the death of Ralph Merritt 21 whose body was found in the Roanoke river two months after he and companion Peter Smith disappeared on a hunting trip Merritt's body was recovered yesterday Robert Smith Peter's younger brother said the two youths left him on the river bank to go to an island and that he waited hours for their return no trace of the elder Smith has been found both men had trapped and hunted along the stream for years.
Dwellings along the Mississippi celebrated as the flood monster was beaten today while the lower valley awaited crest passage. Army engineers kept tight levee watch from Memphis southward as the river receded from a peak of 48.67 feet, with the line of earthwork holding and engineers predicting eventual victory over the superflood.
