City Manager Sees Little Benefit From Miller Conference
Knox reports his Washington talk with Henry W. Miller of the Southern Railway yielded no relief on the railroad crossing problem. Engineers say rerouting would cost over four million dollars and require removing 17 to 18 grade crossings. Officials want underpasses or overpasses, but strong local opposition and Southern stance delay action. Ward Street remains unusable without an immediate crossing plan.
