Beautifying work at Fort Macon Park under way
The Enterprise Bureau Raleigh reports the North Carolina department of conservation and development has planted 1800 forest tree seedlings at Fort Macon State Park as the first step in a planned beautification. Forester F. H. Claridge supervised the effort covering about two acres with species including French maritime pine trials and native pines. Guardsmen at the coast guard station will protect the new plantings.

In Pittsburgh on February 10 AP reports the Hubbard Caldwell breach of promise suit settled when John W Hubbard handed a $50 000 check to Miss Caldwell's attorneys. The jury had awarded damages after finding a marriage contract existed. Hubbard also paid court costs with interest totaling $944.
