Neal urges 25 mile New River entry in Scenic River plan
Congressman Steve Neal urges state officials to include only 25 miles of the New River in North Carolina’s National and Scenic Rivers System. The plan would place the river under state management from its headwaters to the Virginia line, requiring General Assembly approval and aiming to block a proposed Grayson County hydroelectric project. Neal also seeks to delay the dams’ license and preserve private property protections.
