J. T. Ryan of the Southern Furniture Manufacturers Association says southern carriers seek a 120 day suspension of new freight rates set to take effect February 25. Northern lines oppose suspension while a federal commission must decide before the date, or southern manufacturers face a serious disadvantage. The petition also seeks an investigation into alleged excessiveness and northern favoritism.
