One-Act Plays Set Feb 24 at High Point Library
The High Point Community Theatre and Parks and Recreation Dept sponsor two one act plays on February 24 at 7 p.m. in the High Point Public Library auditorium. The Family friendly Banker's Dilemma of How the Famous Dollop and Trippington Railroad Came to Botts California will be entered in the North Carolina Theatre Conference competition in Mt Airy on February 26. The Parks and Recreation department co sponsors.

Lonnie Sawyer and Tina Bayley Married After Delayed Ceremony
In Matthews North Carolina Lonnie Sawyer and Tina Bayley wed belatedly nearly 20 months after their planned June 21 1975 ceremony. Sawyer was jailed after a kidnapping conviction tied to a Monroe department store robbery while his brother Sandy was also convicted. A pardon by Governor James Holfhouser freed them last month ahead of the wedding.

North Carolina owns real estate worth over 2.3 billion dollars but pays no local property taxes. A legislative study commission rejects paying in lieu of taxes, finding state property worth potential local tax income would be offset by costs and benefits of state facilities.
