Council Precedent May Haunt High Point Officials
High Point city officials faced a precedent as the council ordered the building inspector to issue a permit without firm backing after a landscaper sought industrial rezoning for a larger garage. Planning board postponed Irvin’s request while considering similar action to the landscaper case. The board also approved closing an unnamed street near Long Street and denied a real estate office use for a Centennial Street residence, pending rezoning. The bank and trust company won approval to use a trailer as a branch during construction of a new building at Westchester and Carey.
