In Tampa on February 9 1930 friends of Charles Ponzi indicted on fraud charges said he had left for Jacksonville. A close friend at his restaurant headquarters said Ponzi spoke with Mrs Ponzi by phone and she was in Jacksonville. The friend added Ponzi announced he would go to Jacksonville and disappear from his haunts. He was believed to be en route to arrange bail.

Fire after collision injures woman on North Main Street
Mrs. W. B. Sprinkle of 114 Cable Street suffered minor injuries and burns when a Dodge carrying her family collided with A. B. Huff’s Buick on North Main near the Broadhurst theater. Gasoline exploded, firemen battled flames, and Mrs. Sprinkle was treated at a local hospital before returning home. Huff was dazed, and a nearby Hudson sedan owned by Gaines Garland burned, about $300 damage.
