Two North Carolina Officers Are Dismissed

Two state officers lose their jobs in Raleigh over separate incidents. R A Eaton, a highway patrolman from Rocky Mount area, was dismissed after his Greensboro drunken driving arrest. Six Fliers Held For Bomb Plot

Six American fliers were arrested in a thwarted plot to bomb Caracas as part of a Latin American revolution. Four nabbed in New Orleans from Nicaragua, one at Miami, one in military custody. Hoovers FBI cited neutrality act violations with plans to bomb Caracas using two surplus navy planes.

Southern Governors Plan 40 Day Meeting On White Supremacy

The Southern governors conference, under Gov. Strom Thurmond, set 40 days to reconvene to review civil rights developments and rejected a March meeting for a southern Democrat bolt. Southern governors condemn Truman civil rights push at Blaine meeting

The Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Arkansas and Alabama governors joined Thurmond in denouncing Truman’s civil rights program. They resist anti-lynching and anti-poll tax laws and favor a permanent employment discrimination commission only if opposed within the Democratic framework.
