Edward G. Bremer, seized January 17 for a rumored $200000 ransom, was released after 23 days. He arrived home weak but alive as investigators pace the case, with a ransom note reportedly found on a chauffeur’s doorstep and two cardboard bundles tied for payment.
In Winston-Salem a thief broke into the judge G Vernon Cowper's office and stole his overcoat. Police recovered the coat this morning but have not caught the culprit yet.
