London reports revised figures place Tuscania fatalities closer to 200, with embassy tallies at 101 and admiralty estimates at 210. Many missing remain unaccounted, bodies washing ashore in Ireland, and a joint American British funeral planned.
Heatless Mondays are suspended in North and South Carolina Tennessee Georgia Alabama Florida Mississippi and Louisiana due to improved weather and traffic conditions. Draft registrants were continued for examination at the post office this morning but several invitees failed to appear. About 50 negroes were summoned and only 20 showed up. Absentees are slated for desers in the war department for address changes since last June. The medical advisory board will determine who is fit for limited service or accepted with an appendix. Men scheduled for examination tomorrow at the post office are listed, with twenty names including Hall Haynes Coveson Michael Dodson Sharp and others.

Columbia Feb 8. The South Carolina senate voted by three votes to kill a bill that had passed the house prohibiting shipment of whisky or any alcoholic drinks into the state for any purpose. The measure was described as very drastic.
The Interstate Commerce Commission today expected to order a favorable report on the administration railroad bill. Washington, February. The anticipated action signals support for the administration measure in the House.
Senate military affairs panel favored a War Department bill amending the selective draft law to require registration at age 21 and set quotas by class one numbers rather than population. It rejected an exemption for those 31 not drafted and a New Indiana amendment for 19 year olds. Another draft bill would empower the President to call skilled industry and agriculture experts into service in emergencies regardless of existing quotas.
Police report a demented telegraph operator Grady Parish at Manooksa in Alabama shot and killed FB HW Crim and wounded his wife and engineer KK Hobbs. Hobbs was aboard a train at Manooka station on the Lewisville and Nashville line 25 miles south of Birmingham. Parish was overpowered and jailed at Cranton.
Otis Woods of High Point was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Wagener on a desertion charge from the United States Army. He allegedly re enlisted after an honorable discharge, with registration tied to June 5 1917. Officials report he denies being the deserter and claims another man used his name.
New York reports a steady start to the cotton market with declines of 6 to 1 points under Liverpool prices. Trade interests were strong for July and offered support as March rose to around 30.42, May near 29.52, and July to 29.25 before the first half hour, with futures figures for March May July listed.
Amsterdam Feb 8. Premier Py Con Seydler has tendered the entire Austrian cabinet's resignation to Emperor Charles according to a Vienna dispatch. The move comes amid public protests and political upheaval in Austria.

Wilson police officer Herndon was shot and seriously wounded last night by a man aboard an Atlantic Coast Line train in Wilson. The assailant, a negro, drew a pistol after the officer attempted to detain him for suspected whiskey possession. The suspect was captured nearby with the officer receiving treatment.
President Wilcon today sent a telegram of sympathy to Mrs Roosevelt expressing warmest sympathy and hope that Calotvet Roosevelt's condition will improve. The message reflects official condolences from Washington.
