Mail Plane Missing in Snow Storm Over Northern California
Lost government mail plane bound for Reno is believed to have force landed in the Yuba river canyon between Cisco and Troy, Calif. Pilot Eugene Johnson and Bound from Concord were missing after a blinding snowstorm. Forest rangers and telegraph operators searched the area while another plane helped the hunt. The aircraft was seen circling near Crystal Lake station before heading east and then west, after which the engine cut and the plane likely touched down in rugged terrain.
