George Arliss, 77, famed stage and screen star, died at his London home after a bronchial ailment. A London printer's son, he began acting at 18 and portrayed Disraeli and Rothschild on stage and in film, with a notable success in The Green Goddess. He first came to the United States with Mrs. Patrick Campbell in 1901 to perform The Second Mrs Tanqueray.
