No Conflict of Interest Found in Lexington ABC Manager
Lexington state Attorney General opinion states no conflict of interest in City Councilman Bob McGinn serving as manager of the Lexington ABC Store. Deputy Attorney General James F. Bullock notes state law allows holding one elective office plus another appointed post, and that McGinnis’s role does not violate contract rules since he is employed by the City ABC Board rather than contracting as a council member. Bullock warns a potential conflict could arise if a person with appointment power is employed by the board they oversee.
