Pilot and four workers die in Columbia plane crash

A Newberry contractor piloting a twin engined Aero Commander and four of his workmen were killed when the plane crashed near Columbia Airport on a Wednesday night. One survivor was reported. The crash occurred after 9 40 p m in scrub oaks west of the airport. The pilot had requested normal landing instructions and there were no signs of trouble before the approach.
