Rocky Mount Buyers Win Bids for Four Mills

The sale of four Hope Manufacturing mills at Hope Mills N C to Rocky Mount interests was announced. The deal totals about 1,000,000 dollars. Reorganization is underway for the mills which employ 1,200 people, with operations to begin soon led by Robert Hoffines of Rocky Mount.

Welborn Acquitted of Murder Charge in Greensboro

Greensboro report says FE. B. Welborn, a white man, was acquitted in Superior Court of the murder of a Negro, Dehy Christian. The jury found Welborn acted in self defense after a Christmas Day quarrel.

Reverend J. E. Shenk Died in Greensboro at 56

Screensboero reports Rev. J. E. Shenk Lutheran minister died at his Greensboro home at 2:20 this morning after weeks of illness. A native of Luray Virginia, he studied at V P I and the University of Virginia, practiced law briefly in 1885 before entering the ministry. He married Bessie Henkel in 1885 and was to be buried tomorrow in Bethlehem Virginia.
