State Health Departments seek fifty thousand more for full county units
Dr. Carl V Reynolds urged the appropriations committee in Raleigh to add about 50 000 to fund a complete health department unit in every county. He noted 87 counties already have functioning units and three more ready for state matching. He also pressed for funds to sustain vital statistics work after WPA support ends and for venereal disease drug program needs. The session closed public hearings as the budget group moves to executive session.
