Brakeman Killed at Spring Street Crossing
Greensboro Feb 3 Benjam in Lee York brakeman of Spencer was instantly killed at the Spring street crossing when he stepped from the rear of the eastbound engine into a westbound switch engine. His body was dragged several hundred yards and fatally mangled. York often rode to Clegg's bakery before returning to the train. Engineer P G Jones of Greensboro led the No 1500 locomotive.

Seizure of Four Stills Reported by Prohibition Agents
Four illicit distilling outfits were seized by general prohibition agents led by R B Sams. A 100 gallon copper still with 200 gallons of mash was found near Pine Bluff North Carolina. A second more dangerous gelivanized iron still with 120 gallons of mash was found near Candor. Two other stills were found in Montgomery county. No arrests were reported as operators were unknown.
