The High Point Branch of the AAUW hosted a dinner meeting featuring the film We the Women about women's rights and employment. Attendees planned the Greensboro workshop and the Charlotte seminar on economic issues, and discussed ERA advocacy and bias in education.
Oak Hollow Junior Woman's Club met at the High Point Museum to hear plans for the district arts festival to be held February 28 at the High Point Friends Meeting House. Club members will serve as pages and a bazaar auction and supper are planned for a later date. Craft groups will prepare items for the bazaar.
A quilt featuring all 50 states raised 1451 dollars for the Warren County 4H development fund by selling tickets. Emily Inger notes the project supported the Bright of Americans program. Members toured district arts entries for Feb 28 festival at High Point Museum.
Beta Xi Chapter members of Delta Kappa Gamma at Thomasville Junior High School heard a program themed You’ve Come a Long Way Baby emphasizing famous women in history. Narrator Mrs. P W Rains introduced new members and prize winner Dr Virginia Lewis identified most members by name.
The National Guard Auxiliary finalized plans for a fund project at a Monday luncheon hosted by Jo Anne Barger in Kernersville. A new member Kay was welcomed, with sausage on the menu, and the group will meet again in April at the armory. Nominations for officers were made and will be announced at the February 20 meeting at Mrs. Abraham's home on 1707 Bolingbroke Rd in High Point.
Mrs. Aline Carter hosted five bridge tables before a Double M Club meeting yesterday. Guests included Mrs. Cary Kellam and Mrs. Floyd Lewis. Next session hostess will be Mrs. Bill Chambers. George Taylor named Woman of the Year for exemplary service across offices and chairmanships.
Wendy Brown of Jamestown celebrated as Miss Wendy Brown bride elect of Tom Reeder of Charlotte. Miss Kathy White of Greensboro will be maid of honor with Susan Davis Linda Daniel and Anne Hathaway among guests. A dais arrangement featured yellow and white daisies. The couple plans to wed February 5 at High Point Friends Meeting House.
Mr and Mrs Rodney Lewis Route 2 announce the birth of a son James Stanton on January 28 at High Point Memorial Hospital. Mr and Mrs William A announce the birth of a son William Aaron on January 27 at Moses Cone Hospital Greensboro. Mr and Mrs Sizemore, High residents, Sizemore is the former Dawn Newton.

Federal Trade Commissioner Elizabeth Hanford Dole will address the Southeastern Regional Family Economics and Home Management Conference in Greensboro at the Holiday Inn Four Seasons. Dole, a Salisbury native, will speak Friday at 10:30 a.m. on In the Consumers Interest. The conference runs Wednesday through Friday with keynote Dr. Margaret I. Liston of Iowa State University. The event is hosted by UNC Greensboro and UNC Greensboro and A&T faculty will present on motivation change and consumer education topics.
