Battle to end Japan pursuit strategy urged by naval leaders
An editorial argues for a measured but determined Pacific campaign. It warns against rapid island hopping and urges building bases from which to strike Japan, noting Japan's reliance on imported resources and the need to wear down its war economy. The piece reflects high-level naval thinking and calls for patience in a multi-year plan.

War tensions and shipyards reshape Pacific battlefronts
The text notes most fighting to date remains idle on the Assam border while resources and ships shift to naval craft. It cites prewar Japan operating 23 shipyards with 69 berths and 1 million tons annual capacity, now expanded but focused on ships. Naval intelligence finds Tojo’s new vessels are makeshift, and Pacific forces face a rising flood tide rather than endless struggle.
