Brogden Hedrick Sentenced in Armed Robbery Case

Otto T. Hedrick of Rt 6 and Arnold Brogden of Southmont in Davidson County were convicted of armed robbery in Superior Court. Hedrick drew 7 to 15 years in state prison while Brogden got 9 to 15 years. Each also received 5 to 10 year suspended terms for breaking entering larceny and receiving, to follow the active sentences.

Cape Canaveral reports Ham the chimp signals a go ahead for manned spaceflight. Ham rode a Redstone rocket to 155 miles high, splashed into the Atlantic and was recovered by the USS Donner. The mission tests aim to pave the way for an American astronaut in 1961.

Bowers Sworn In As Adjutant General Of North Carolina
