Pension Money Favored By House Appropriations Panel

The House Appropriations Committee voted to provide 275 million dollars for boosted social security benefits and included it in a 335,090,000 five month supplemental package for the current fiscal year. The total falls 46,997,500 below Eisenhower’s request. The social security allotment would raise annual program funding to 1,575,000,000 for the year ending next June 30, with 15 million set for emergency drought measures. The panel also endorsed a 20 million dollar farm ownership loan authority increase and a 45 million dollar rise in revolving Small Business funds.

Flooding of Lowlands Forecast in Eastern North Carolina

The Raleigh Durham airport weather station forecast moderate flooding of river lowlands in eastern North Carolina over the next few days with light to moderate rainfall. If rains are light, water levels stay lower than predicted. if heavy, forecasts will be revised. No unusual flooding expected on eastern rivers barring heavy rains.
