Vinson chairs the Armed Services Committee and bills authorize the Air Force Secretary to choose the site. Meriden Connecticut reports florist Joseph Grillo offers 20 acres to any group of displaced persons who will build a cooperative housing project. He says many newcomers are skilled artisans and that dispossessed people deserve a dignified start after wartime devastation.
