Ex-Undertaker Seeks Democratic Nomination for Congress
RALEIGH AP ex undertaker Joseph R Overby of Smithfield once owned eight funeral homes in the Raleigh Smithfield area. He now funds a Democratic bid for the 3rd District seat held by David Henderson. Overby 64 says he will run after an unsuccessful 1974 write in. Also seeking the nomination is State Rep Jimmy L Love. Overby calls Washington corrupt and urges a return to a George Washington style government. He favors a four year term limit for elected officials including president and Supreme Court justices, electing the Supreme Court, ending foreign aid, and balancing Social Security and the Postal Service finances.

Anderson County deputies seized 494 gallons of moonshine valued at about 10 000 dollars from a liquor still on highway 29 in a dilapidated barn after about a week of surveillance and a tip.
