Cotton Co op body taking shape for new national firm
Washington December 27 Two hopeful signals emerged as federal farm board members and cotton growers discussed final draft charter and by laws for the 30 million dollar cotton cooperative. Carl Williams said growers are ready to join locally if allowed to invest in the national body and that major incorporation questions have been settled with no delay anticipated. The plan requires compliance with state laws in 14 cotton states so local cooperatives may buy stock after forming under one state's laws. Actual incorporation awaits approval by the national organization committee in Memphis.
