Gov Dan K Moore names the North Carolina Stadium Authority and appoints executive director Joe Matthews to study location and feasibility for a major league stadium. The group, led by chair Tom Ward, eyes an Astrodome style facility to attract pro football basketball and conventions, with bond financing a possibility within 18 months to two years.

Mike Maloy named tournament MVP with Wayne Huckel, while Miami of Ohio places Fred Foster and Phil Snow on the first team. Temple's John Baum also on the first team. Second team includes Clarence Brookins, Doug Cook, Drew Knowlen, Greg Williams, and Rodney Knowles from Davidson.
Davidson College names Emil Parker, 28, longtime Charlotte Observer sportswriter, as the new director of sports information. He succeeds John Kilgo who resigned last month to pursue broadcast news. The appointment was announced by athletic director Dr. Tom Scott.
