Railroads Are Given Priority In Nations Growing Coal Crisis
A 16 year old Glenola girl Miss Alta Burchett was killed in a head on collision on South Main street. Her fiancé James H. Williams 21 of Trinity Route 1 and driver John Frank Hiatt 49 of 313 Montheu avenue were injured. Hiatt charged with manslaughter and held on $5000 bond. Witness said Hiatt’s car was about 40 mph on the wrong side. Williams, a soldier at Ft Jackson, was discharged from Boulevard unit hospital after head injuries. Hiatt had a history of drunken driving arrests. Williams and Miss Burchett were to be married that night.
