Final Rites Held In Charleston For Gen Hagood
Maj. Gen. Johnson Hagood died at the Naval hospital and was buried in Magnolia cemetery after services at St. Michael's Episcopal church. He retired in 1936 and once drew public controversy over his removal as commander of the Eighth Army Corps in San Antonio. Hagood was a noted author on army life and a nephew of Brig. Gen Johnson Hagood, a former Confederate officer and South Carolina governor.
