Congress May Vote Increase For President
Washington reports a Senate bill to raise the president salary by 25000 a year plus a 50000 expense allowance. If enacted Truman would join 100000 a year earners, last done for Taft in 1909. The measure also boosts Cabinet and top officials pay and adds 330 to pay for DC and foreign service staff. total annual cost about 1.72 million for executives plus 4.49 million for district and foreign service workers.
