The Skybolt ballistic missile, dropped from a B52 at Cape Canaveral, flew its full mission under its own power reaching about 300 miles down range before landing in the Atlantic. Officials say the test proves the missile can work though it remains to be refined for reliability.
A federal jury in Nashville resumes deliberations in the James R. Hoffa conspiracy case after a three month trial. Judge William E. Miller gave jurors three and a half hours to decide, with an overnight recess after no verdict. Hoffa faces two misdemeanor counts for alleged undercover payments linked to Taft Hartley Act violations.
1 113 Cuban invasion prisoners may be freed in exchange for medicines and food by Christmas. James B. Donovan announced the deal and said prisoners will be released by Christmas or shortly after. Red Cross and Cuban Families committees expect arrivals in Miami and Port Everglades with a four plane shuttle delivering drugs and food.

Miss Carole M. Johnson 23 of Greenville was killed Friday when her car collided with a truck near Oxford North Carolina. The car apparently lost control on an icy highway. She was the daughter of Dr L D Johnson pastor of First Baptist Church in Greenville.
