Hoffa Jury Resumes Deliberations in Conspiracy Trial

A federal jury in Nashville resumes deliberations in the James R. Hoffa conspiracy case after a three month trial. Judge William E. Fresh Arctic Air To Return Sunday Across North Carolina

A brief warm spell ended as a new surge of arctic air was forecast for Sunday. The Weather Bureau warned of renewed frigid temperatures and hazardous driving conditions statewide, with at least four deaths attributed to the weather. Temperatures climbed above freezing inland while coastal areas stayed in the 40s. Early readings ranged from 27 in Charlotte to 25 in Greensboro and Raleigh, and 34 in Wilmington, with fog and intermittent rain noted in places.

Greenville Girl Killed In Icy Highway Collision

Miss Carole M. Johnson 23 of Greenville was killed Friday when her car collided with a truck near Oxford North Carolina. The car apparently lost control on an icy highway. She was the daughter of Dr L D Johnson pastor of First Baptist Church in Greenville.
