Deadline Set By Adoula Seeks Katanga Unity Pact

Premier Cyrille Adoula declared next Wednesday as the deadline for Katanga to honor Moise Tshombe's eight point unity agreement. He warned of energetic action if the commitment is not respected and expected U.N. enforcement if needed. Tshombe said ratification would take at least 10 days before Katanga deputies join the Congolese Parliament.

Cardinal Cushing Reports Kennedy Father Improving After Stroke

Cardinal Richard Cushing visited Joseph P. Kennedy at St Marys Hospital in Boca Raton and said the elder Kennedy is very much improved and able to speak a word or two. Prices Ease as Living Costs Dip in November

In November the consumer price index edged down one tenth of a percent led by lower food costs and softer prices for toys and sporting goods. The annual comparison shows a 7 tenth percent rise from November 1960, while spendable earnings for a four person factory worker rose to 85.03 dollars a week, a gain of about seven percent year over year.

Pardon granted for Warren Billings in 1916 parade bombing case

Warren Billings, a Californian who spent 23 years in prison for the San Francisco Preparedness Day bombing, received a Christmas pardon from Governor Edmund G. Brown. Judy Lindsay a sixth grader from Cranford New Jersey will receive a pony with a white crescent marking on its face.
