A weather notice reports rain this afternoon and tonight across NORTH CAROLINA with a likely onset of freezing rain as temperatures rise. SOUTH CAROLINA and GEORGIA expect occasional rain and warmer conditions this afternoon and tonight.
The Grand Senussi speaks of continuing fight for freedom, urging wide cooperation after war and guidance for a new Libyan state. He praises Libyan troops with the British Eighth Army and gratitude for Allied protection, while outlining plans for mass education and sorghum cane as a sugar substitute.
Special to The Enterprise reports Davidson County chairman Walter W. Rapp announced December sales of War Savings bonds and stamps totaling 75,739.50 in the first half of December toward a 141,000 quota. Paul Alexander, 22, of 138 Underhill Drive, reported a theft from a locker room at Asia restaurant, 120 North Main Street. Items missing include a self winding silver wrist watch and band valued at 15, a silk shirt 2, a tan raincoat 7.50, a brown cap 1.25, and a cotton shirt 1.95. The watch and a dollar bill were taken from his coat. No warrant issued yet.
Dr. Melchior Palyi, former Reichsbank adviser, calls Darlan joining the Allies Hitler’s first major morale defeat with far reaching diplomatic impact across Europe. Mrs Abbie Harwell 44 wife of Jasper Harwell died after a heart attack at home. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 pm at Fairmont Park Baptist Church conducted by Rev A L McGhee and Rev O E Snow with music during the services.
