Holiday House visits Huntington by foreign student group
Turkish, Congolese, Pakistani, Nationalist Chinese, South Korean and Iranian students studying in the United States will visit Huntington during Christmas as part of the First Presbyterian Church Holiday House program now in its second year. Patman, a Texas Democrat, told a House Small Business subcommittee that examined 575 foundations for 1961 to 1964. The study found 4.6 billion in receipts, with 1.3 billion from capital gains, while less than half of 2.2 billion was disbursed to causes and about 500 million went to expenses. The report notes more tax exemption abuses and cites examples from several foundations. Patman said current law does not require capital gains to be distributed to charity and that dividend and interest distributions are not strictly enforced.
